GEO Tactics for CAM: Leverage Reddit, Quora & Wikipedia for AI Visibility

Wikipedia offers some of the strongest authority signals for AI, but it’s also the easiest place to make missteps if you don’t follow the rules. Unlike Reddit or Quora, Wikipedia has strict guidelines — and breaking them can quickly erase your work or even get your account flagged.

Creating a Page for Your Firm Too Soon

One of the most common mistakes is trying to create a Wikipedia page for your company before it meets notability standards. If your firm hasn’t been covered by independent, reliable sources like news outlets or industry publications, the page will almost certainly be deleted.

Being Promotional Instead of Neutral

Wikipedia is not a marketing platform. Adding language that praises your company or makes sales claims will get flagged immediately. Every contribution must be neutral and fact-based.

Using Unreliable Sources

Company websites, personal blogs, or promotional materials don’t qualify as reliable sources. If your edits are backed only by these, they won’t stick. Wikipedia requires third-party, verifiable references such as news articles, government reports, or academic studies.

Ignoring the Community

Wikipedia is maintained by a community of editors. If you make changes without discussing them on the article’s “Talk” page — especially controversial ones — your edits may be reversed quickly. Collaboration matters.

Expecting Immediate Visibility

Even well-done contributions may take time to show an impact in AI results. If you treat Wikipedia like a quick-win tactic, you’ll be disappointed. It’s about building credibility over the long term.

By avoiding these pitfalls, you can ensure that your contributions stick and actually add value — both to the Wikipedia community and to your firm’s visibility in AI-driven answers.

Now that we’ve covered the major platforms AI relies on for written content, let’s switch gears and look at video. YouTube isn’t quite the same as Reddit, Quora, or Wikipedia — which is why we’re treating it as a bonus module rather than part of the core three. It doesn’t follow the same written Q&A structure, but because Google’s AI Overviews often pull clips and summaries from YouTube, it can still play a major role in GEO.
